Our Weekend - Girls Weekend

I had my annual girls weekend with my high school friends over the weekend. This year we ventured down South to the great city of Omaha, NE! Our good friend Krista moved there almost 3 years ago. She's made the trip North for the past few years so we thought we would head down to her neck of the woods.

A few girls left straight from Monte on Friday afternoon and a couple of us from the cities area left after work. The Monte girls made it down in about 5 1/2 hours getting there around 7:30. Dorrie and I left the Coon Rapids around 5:30pm and got down there in 6 hours. We stayed up talking while having a few cocktails until about 1. We needed to rest up for our busy day of shopping the next day.

After breakfast, we all got ready and headed out the door for a day of shopping. Everyone made at least one purchase throughout the day. We had a lot of good laughs and catching up during our lunch at Cheeseburger in Paradise. Great food and the beach drinks were yummy too! Before we knew it, it was 5:00. We packed up and headed to our hotel located in the area called "Old Market" (downtown) Omaha. Downtown is about 20 mins from Krista's house. The streets were lined with cobble stone. Very cool!!

Once we were checked in, we enjoyed a few cocktails in our hotel room. Around 7 or so, we made our first stop at O'Connor Irish Pub then ventured to Irie where we enjoyed some appetizers. We finished the night out at Nomad Lounge. We were a little unsure about this one. When you walked in, there were 8 to 10 areas with leather couches, large glass coffee tables and long curtains that can be drawn to make each area closed. Looking on line at their website this morning, they called these lounge areas "cabana's". The building is an old warehouse of some sort {lots of brick, wood floors and high ceilings}. We really were not sure what we were getting ourselves into. Jeanna said it reminded her of the movie, "Godfather!" At any moment some mobster would walk in with some high powered rifle. But our uneasiness was all so wrong. Come to find out the DJ was originally from Duluth! So we were Inn Like Flinn the rest of the evening. We danced for 2 hours straight. The DJ would say, "Where's my MN girls!" and of course, we would raise our hands in the air and scream like little teenagers. :) Believe me, we all were feeling it the next morning with sore legs and butts. Not use to all that dancing.

After our continental breakfast at the hotel, we packed up, said our goodbyes and headed for home. What a great weekend spent with such great friends. We are all so lucky to have such wonderful friendships that have lasted all these years. Of course we've had some bumps along the way, but those bumps have only made us stronger. I love that for some of us only seeing each other this one time a year, we are able to start off where we left off. Love you girls!! Thanks for making more memories. I think we definitely made our mark in Omaha!! :)

While I was out partying, Kendall and Jake spent the weekend at home enjoying their time together. Stuck close to home. They watched movies, went for golf cart rides and played hide n go seek. I sure missed them while I was away, but I know it's good for all of us.

Have a great week! Looks like Mother Nature is going to grate us some warmer weather.
