Our Couple of Months Away From Blogging - September & October

Okay this is getting a little ridiculous being two months behind on blogging, but to my defense, we've been a bit busy.

September consisted of -
1.Jake starting Kindergarten and riding bus to and from school every day for the first time. He did perfect and I'm happy to report no tears for mom or Jake.
2. My sister and I celebrated Jessie Flinn's upcoming wedding by being invited to her bridal shower being held at her twin sister Erica's house. The afternoon was a lot of fun. Lots of laughs with this bunch of girls.
3. My family helped celebrate my uncle Tom's 60th birthday at his house. The kicker ... it was a surprise! Thank goodness having my aunt Carol and cousin Kenny there the day before to help clean didn't give anything away. It was great having us all together again. We all needed a good laugh or two.
4. We spent a weekend at Ashley and Trevor's - Enjoyed a nice warm bonfire one of the nights, Sunday we joined them at their church.
5. Spent a few days this month visiting with my brother Jon. We definitely cherished these moments close to our hearts. A few other times we had scheduled to visit, Jon wasn't up to it.

October was a rough month -
Our last visit with my brother Jon was on the 2nd. It was so hard seeing him so thin and frail. I tried being so strong, but in the end, I was a puddle as I tried speaking to Jon while he sat up in the recliner. Jon's true character never shined brighter than when he looked up at me with the most heartfelt eyes and asked, "Why are you crying?" I replied, "because I'm sad that you are so sick!" He held out his hand and we held hands for a bit. I told him that I was going to be okay and that he was the best brother, EVER! Without missing a beat, he said in his frail/mumbled voice, "you only got one!" Yes, that is true, I only have one brother but how lucky am I to have the best of the best. Our last words to one another will always be etched in my heart and never be forgotten ... I Love You!

5 days later on October 7th at 7:30am my brother gained his wings and joined our grandparents up in Heaven. We all knew this day would come and we tried our hardest to prepare but for me, nothing could prepare me enough when I received that dreadful phone call from my mom. Our family will never be the same without having Jon right here with us in the physical form. Hearing others trying to comfort us wasn't good enough. I was and still am angry that Jon won't be growing old with us. My biggest protector was taken way to soon. Don't get me wrong, I'm so glad Jon is pain free, but I wish with every fiber in my body that he was healthy here on Earth.

Jon's funeral was held on October 19th in Montevideo. The church was packed from top to bottom. I don't think I've ever hugged so many at one time. That love and support is what got us all through that day. Jon is loved by so many. We are so grateful for the outpouring love and support.
