Wow what a great weekend! We packed up and headed out of town with our camper. This was our first time with the new camper. All I can say is, "I'm glad we upgraded!" The joys of having a full kitchen, bigger sleeping areas and a bathroom made the experience even better.
We stayed at Westrich RV park in Spicer. They were actually full but got us in at the last minute. Helps knowing the owner. I was able to leave work a couple hours early on Friday so we could enjoy a few more light hours. Setting up the camper went without any big issues. I thought maybe the manual would be used, but my hubby was a pro! After set up, Kendall and Jake headed into town for some groceries. When they got back, Jacob comes running towards me and says, "Mommy, we got all the ingredients!" Oh the things kids say. Ashley/Trevor stopped by for burgers on the grill with Keean, Shae and Mason. After they headed for home, Dean/Susan came by to see us. No bonfire due to the bugs! We moved the party inside instead.
We woke up to a storm passing through Saturday morning. By the looks of the radar, the day looked like it could have been a wash out, but by 10:00, the sun started peaking though the last remaining clouds. We had plans to go out pontooning with good friends Dale and Tami. So glad the weather made a turn around, the day spent out on the lake was wonderful. Jake was given control of the wheel and boy was he one happy "pirate ship" driver. Too cute! We spent a few hours out enjoying the sun and water. Thank you Dale and Tami for another great boat ride.
For supper Saturday, we invited Dale/Tami and Dean/Susan over to grill. The steaks were awesome along with a gallon size container of potato salad (Kendall's shopping!). After filling our bellies, Kendall took out the frisbees. I threw a few times but frisbee throwing is not my forte. I hung out on the sidelines watching Kendall, Dean, Dale and Tami instead. It was fun catching up with everyone again. Sad our lives have to be so darn busy.
Sunday we met up with Dean/Susan for breakfast at the Legion in New London. They were having an omelet feed. Jake hasn't been a big egg eater so we were a little leary, but once he saw they had salsa, he was all in. He actually asked, "where's the chips for the salsa?" After breakfast, we headed back to the camper and got our suits on. We invited DeLisa/Eric and their kids to join us at the pool along with Ashley and Shae/Keean. Adrien surprised us by stopping by too. The weather turned out perfect! The kids had a blast. After a few hours at the pool, it was time to pack up and head for home.
Our first camping experience in the new camper was wonderful. Can't wait to do it again! Our month of August (besides Jacob's birthday party) is pretty much open. Where will our camper take us next?!?
