Our Week Vacation - Woodland Beach Resort

After lunch on Saturday (the 2nd), we packed up and headed out for our week long vacation at Woodland Beach Resort located on Bay Lake in Deerwood. The resort is located 20 miles East of Brainerd and North of Mille Lac Lake 10 miles.

We had perfect weather the entire time and spent most of our time outdoors enjoying it. Our cabin was set back in the 40's era, but with the amenities of electricity and running water. The whole resort had 22 cabins ranging from 2 to 12 bedrooms. The swim beach included a 20' RAVE and a couple paddle boats.

Our cabin was big enough for the 3 of us, but this will probably be our last family vacation in a "cabin" now that we have the new camper.

We spent one afternoon taking Jake to see Paul Bunyan. The look on Jake's face as Paul says, "Hi Jacob from Becker" was priceless! With on-lookers staring at us, Jake was a little unsure about going up and taking a seat on Paul's foot for a picture. So we decided we would visit the park awhile then see how he was. The park was so much fun! Its great not having to mess with tickets. You pay a flat fee to get inside the park and the rides are endless. After 3 hours of steady rides, it was time to head back to the cabin but not before saying goodbye to Paul and taking a few snap shots sitting on his foot. :) What a great memory for Jake and our little family.

We made sure to spend as much time in the water as possible. I'm pretty sure we made 2 trips each day we were there. By the end of our stay, Jake became a swimming sensation! If he wasn't in the water playing, he was talking Daddy into giving him and Kinzie a ride on the paddle boat. Between Jake shifts, I actually had time to work on my summer tan and I finished off a book. The whole week was all about relaxing and enjoying our time together.

The week went by so fast. Before we knew it, it was time to pack up and head for home. We cut our stay short by one night with us having to be in Spicer on Saturday. But it was a blessing getting home and spending a night in our own beds before being gone another day/night.

I will try and post pictures as soon as I have some extra time on my hands.
