Jake had his surgery this morning and everything went perfect! Surgery was scheduled at 8am in St. Cloud. Thank goodness for the early start, he couldn't have anything to eat or drink 12 hours prior. Right away this morning he was asking for "loops" and we kept telling after the doctor.
Surgery went great. They were able to laser the tongue tightness. We were in the room while they administered the gas. It sure didn't take long for Jake to fall asleep. I think within 30 seconds and he was out cold. Kendall and I walked out into the waiting room and within 15 minutes, we were walked into the recovery room. Jake was a little under the weather. To be blunt, he was pissed off at the world! We stayed in the recovery room for about 20 minutes to give the gas some time to wear off. The nurses and doctor said Jake's behavior was "normal" for a child of is age. He was in no pain, but confused and scared.
We did stop at Target on our way out of town to pick up some pain medication, orange juice and a little container of "loops" to help Jake feel better. Kendall and Jake hung out in the car because he was still not in a happy state. While in the check out line, I saw the new Alvin and the Chipmunk movie!. Thought that may cheer up him up. :)
It's hard seeing your baby hurting but in the long run this will be long forgotten. The doctor said within a couple of days he won't have any issues. I made a joke on Facebook this morning that Jake was so talkative before surgery and how I was nervous what the outcome would be afterwards. Would he be a bigger talker like his sissy Ashley?!? Who by the way came into this world talking sentences. :)
Thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers! Any type of surgery is hard when it's your child.
