Our Weekend - Merry Christmas

Wow, what a wonderful Christmas break!

On Thursday night, we had our "little" Christmas at home. Such a joy to watch Jake open gifts. His face was priceless. I really don't think he knew what he all got until all his gifts were opened. We got him an Batman train that is a extension to his Geo Track, mega Ship, Smurfs movie, semi truck/trailer to haul matchbox cars, Superman & Flash costumes, and from his daycare parents, he got a Spider man helicopter.

Jake and I bought Kendall an outfit from Eddie Bauer and a bottle of cologne. Jake and Kendall spoiled me with the new movie "Help" and a Kindle Fire! Once the batteries were charged, I ordered the book, "The Devil in Pew Number Seven." Great book so far.

Friday morning we packed up Kendall's truck and headed for our Christmas in Montevideo. That night for supper we celebrated my brother in laws birthday with grilling steaks and chicken. The food was so good. After supper, we lounged around. Saturday was going to be a long fun filled day that we needed to rest up for.

My mom worked Saturday until 2pm so the rest of us headed down to my aunt Debbie's aka Grandma's house. Its been over 20 years since we celebrated any holiday down there. For us older cousins, we hold such wonderful memories of Christmas Eve day at Grandma Nellie's house. Everyone was in charge of bringing a dish to pass. I'm telling you no one went hungry! The food spread covered every inch of counter space and the large serving table in the kitchen.

Once 2 o'clock hit, our family headed back to my parents to open gifts when mom got home. I'm not sure who was more excited for Jake to open gifts ... Papa or Jake?!? Jake received a few new board games, Nerf gun, movies, clothes, Christmas Story book read by Michael/Brady, Target gift card, MN Raffle ticket and money to put in his savings. Kendall and I got a Terry Redlin print, cash, Santa statue and a MN Raffle ticket. My dad of course was the one giving out the raffle tickets. :)

After gift opening, we headed back down to Debbie's to spend the evening there ... eating, visiting, playing games, eating more, painting white dish towels {fond memories of Grandma}, and enjoying a few cocktails. Being down there making new memories and enjoying family is the true meaning of the holidays. Looking forward to next year already! January 5th, 2013 for the few of you that couldn't make it this year.

On Christmas morning, Jake woke to a gift from Santa under the tree. Santa gave Jake a bunch of art supplies for coloring and painting pictures. For breakfast, my mom out did herself by baking egg souffle and serving it with muffins. The large pan of egg bake went with everyone going back for seconds. Once the dishes were washed and put away {thanks Jon!} and our cars packed for home, we headed back down for day 2 at Debbie's. We spent a few hours visiting before heading back home.

On our way back home, we stopped by Ashley/Trevor's to say hi. Boy that Keean is so darn cute. He's holding up his head so well. I'm sure sitting up and looking around is 100% more enjoyable for him. I even got him to giggle a few times. Love him! Ashley had Jake pick out one of his presents under their tree. Of course Jake pickes the largest one and inside the box ... a guitar and microphone that both plug into a amplifier. He was singing the couple hours we were there. We will be celebrating our Christmas with the girls this coming weekend at our house.

Yesterday was spent enjoying the extra day off. Stayed in PJ's all day. Jake played with all of his new toys, I watched the "Help" movie and Kendall caught a few shows on tv. A great day to relax before work and daycare. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!!
